Black Prince Overhaul 2019-21

This unique locomotive is now fully overhauled, and after driver familiarisation, hauled its first public passenger train on 4th September 2021.

The RH&DRSA committed £80,000 of reserves to pay fully for the overhaul with the help of our generous members and this is noted on a brass plaque on each side of the cab. Thank you to all donors, Black Prince is looking magnificent – pictures to follow.

In appreciation of member’s donations we made the following promises:

• the two largest donors each received a footplate pass for the newly overhauled loco
• three more footplate passes were drawn from all remaining donors, so everyone had a chance
• the passes were transferable

The lucky winners have been advised and have been put in contact with the Railway to arrange dates for their rides.

The overhaul is now complete and Black Prince has returned to Romney.
